Our local TV stations posts viewers photos of our desert sunsets. One that stirred me was with that sky. I had just sold my last Joshua tree painting so I wanted to paint that sky with some sillouette Joshua trees in it. This took me two days but the image came out of my memory as I didn't have a photo to work with. Those who have seen it can't believe it is a painting. They all thought it was a photograph! Realism at its finest. As always my goal with realism is to get the viewer to think it is a photograph. I love working with acrylics because you can work fast or slow depending on the subject matter. This one I worked fast because there is a trick to blending the sky colors if you want them to look realistic. Did you feel like you were looking at a photo? Good!

Carol has been a professional artist for over fifty years, mastering calligraphy, watercolors and now acrylics. She studied at the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, and took many private classes but considers herself to be a self taught artist. Using lots of detail, layering bright and bold colors and sometimes a touch of humor, has won her many awards. She continues to win awards today. She has been published and has a painting in the Postal Museum of the Smithsonian. She will be a featured artist with the Mayo Galleries in Arizona later this year. Carol likes to draw the viewer into her paintings using her particular style. She loves nature and enjoys painting flowers, land/seascapes and some abstracts. She applies a lot of layering in her paintings no matter the subject matter. Always wanting to improve her skills, she taught herself how to use the palette knife. Her latest series of Moon In Africa Series is a fine example of those bright colors contrasting with the moon and the animal silhouettes. Most of her paintings are available in print through FineArtAmerica.com and through LouisLeonardArt.com It is an honor and a privilege that Carol has been invited again to be a featured artist with the Mayo Clinic Galleries in Phoenix Arizona beginning in February 21,2023 to May 23, 2023. Her main goal with her art is to make people smile. "Life needs more joy and a painting should give the viewer joy. A happy painting is my way of giving back to those who view or buy them".
