Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Resin, Chalk, glitter, Pastel on Canvas, Plastic, Steel, Other.

In this piece of work, I experimented with different medium such as tracing art paper, resin, chalk and glitter to create the haunting forest which Totoro resides in during winter time.

Totoro from the Japanese movie has become a cultural icon in Japan and won its worldwide audience for its warm hearted story about friendship and magic.

What fascinate me to create this piece of artwork is that The story is a little sad, thus the snowscape, a little scary, hence the little fangs, a little surprising and a little informative, just like life itself. It depends on a situation instead of a plot, and suggests that the wonder of life and the resources of imagination supply all the adventure you need.

The interesting irony of the film is - Despite the cheerfulness of the plot, The rumor says that Totoro is the God of Death, so the persons that can see Totoro are actually close to death, or already dead

Childhood should be magical.
