ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In 1999, I was seriously injured in a car accident. Later, I created a series of 10 oil paintings that depicted symbolically my thoughts, emotions and beliefs about this accident, starting from right before the accident happened until afterwards, when in the hospital, I knew that I would be OK. The paintings were meant to be viewed like a storyboard, in order, from 1 to 10. This is the seventh painting in this series. After my car hit the center divider, it bounced off and headed straight into on-coming traffic, then stopped in the middle of the freeway. I was helped out of my car by some wonderful people and laid on the side of the freeway to wait for the ambulance. I remember feeling like a tiny, broken-winged, very fragile little bird. It was an odd and very distressing feeling. This painting is not framed. The edges are neatly painted and it is wired and ready to hang. It is signed and dated on the back and front.
