Arwen Flowers is a New Zealand-born artist, raised near the beautiful forests and beaches of the West Coast of Auckland. Arwen uses patterns to explore intersections and parallels between European and Pacific cultures and has developed a mixed-media approach to her art. Sourcing and using second-hand materials and creating poetry are part of her creative process. Arwen has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (BFA) specializing in painting and photography. Her studio is currently located in Helensville, Auckland. Arwen’s artwork on canvas and paper utilizes a unique mix of media - dressmaking patterns, graphite, charcoal, metallic foil, and paint. Through this multi-media approach, she references both land and oceanic forms and uses patterns to explore intersections and parallels between European and Pacific cultures. Sourcing and using second-hand materials and creating poetry are part of her creative process.
