ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I arrange torn scraps of printed advertising scrap, assemble and collage, then paint upon extensively with acrylics, gloss & matte varnishes, metallics dry dies and aggregates. The work utilizes materials (advert detritus) that no longer serve their intended purpose. This one has a depth of surface treatment that resembles encaustic.

Liberated after 4 decades in print advertising for Major Motion Pictures, producing posters, lobby displays and large outdoor public displays, for the last two decades, I've been making paintings based on the leftovers from those kinds of presentations. Remnants of printed paper scraps become the working material for painted and collaged compositions, abstractions and occasionally landscapes.
