ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Cyprus. It so happened that this island became our second home, our dacha. My parents have a house there, and we often go there. My older son and I spent a lot of time there. He crawled for the first time there and started swimming. A wonderful island for children. The locals have a real cult of children there. **From my series “Introduction to Borders”:** This mini project is dedicated to the fact that every person has a mix of different bloods and nationalities. There is no pure blood on earth. We may live in different countries, on different continents. But we remain the same as we were. People do not change. And this is not influenced by culture or upbringing. To reflect my idea, I used a self-portrait and "overlayed" it with different flags of countries that I have some connection to. Some I have lived in for a while, some I have blood from that runs through my veins. Of course, this influences me, but I remain the same. Perhaps this idea is the key to unity?

Victoria Gladshten is a photographer based in Russia. In her works she uses a combination of classical photography and collage to talk about living feelings, emotions. She became interested in photography since 2017. Of the many types of photography, Victoria settled on self-portrait. Through it she tries to show how external events affect the emotional background and how the body reacts to it, her knowledge of psychology helps in establishing cause and effect relationships.
