Parakeets #1 - Limited Edition of 25 Photograph

I photographed the “Parakeets” series during the first Corona virus lockdown in the UK. The area in southeast London where I live has an overwhelming population of these non-native birds. The lockdown provided me the time to diligently observe the patterns of these birds, noting both their flight paths and timings. I admired their bright green plumage against the blue summer skies and the formations created in flight. Watching parakeets flock past my windows in the evenings made me contemplate the cyclicity of nature and our own mortality. I wanted to capture colourful and graphically striking photographs that celebrate the beauty that can be found just outside our front doors. There are several urban legends as to how these exotic birds came to be so abundant in London. One of which is that Jimi Hendrix released a breeding pair during a 1960s Carnaby Street stunt.
