Winter Treescape - Limited Edition 1 of 2 Print

In 2014, I was awarded the Individual Artist Grant from the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission. This print is one of twelve works created from that grant work. The Prints started with an initial idea of finding Newtown landscapes which where off the beaten path, with high or low horizon lines, and depicted the ethereal character of the town. I was searching for the essential , the soft spoken and powerful beauty often missed. My guide was my son Dieter, who as a runner for the high school had run many of the backroads. It is he who lead me to the first landscape. From there I obtained a map from Planning and Zoning and set off on a quest to find the rest of the landscapes which answered my inquiry. It was only when I was half way through that I realized that the prints depicted “Newtown’s Rural Character”, the elusive phrase used to describe my town. The prints were created at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT.
