About The Artwork
When studying classical mosaics around the Mediterranean, the artist delighted in the marble torsos in many archeological museums. This work is inspired by one in Alexandria, Egypt. It uses traditional materials to render an arresting and imposing ‘classic’ for today. Materials: Carrara marble, Venetian mosaic gold. White mosaic glass smalti, fools’ gold, American ash wood frame.
