About The Artwork
the Biltmore Hotel fire in Phoenix in 1976 yielded hundreds of pounds of wrinkled copper from the roof. I expounded on that material texture to heat and texture my own. I heat the copper red hot, cool it, and hammer full sheets, cut and form them over sub-forms; cut slots and add glass. Each textured copper piece is totally unique, not cast or made from a form. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the textured copper with the glass reflecting light and the small pieces of polished bronze.
