About The Artwork

Tapestry Valva soft sculpture, compact and concise. Shells of the mussel provide great beauty. The exterior of the valve is bluish-black with fine concentric lines (growth lines). The interior is purplish with some pearly reflections. Human animal finds a high economic profitability in the exploitation of mollusks. When we eat a mussel, we are eating its mouth, stomach, pericardial cavity, anus, gills, muscles, intestines and labial palps. Not forgetting the tiny nervous system and the gonads. Even though these bivalves are potentially toxic for human consumption. The shells are also used for animal feed, compost and fertilizers, road asphalt, purifying filters, construction mortar, toothpaste and make-up, paints and varnishes, paper bleach. Mollusks deserve a compact and concise soft sculpture. They deserves thanks and tributes. The filtration capacity of the mussels is enormous, pumping up to 8 liters per hour. It forms many communities, in the same way humans do. Valva tapestry has volume. Soft sculpture by a plumb cotton rope that serves as a frame for two circles of shell communities. In the upper circle they modestly show us their pearly interior. In the lower circle its blue-black exterior. The same bicolor shell. It is concave. They are sewn by hand with black paper threads, one by one they hang and sway. Circle and the mussel are perfect, homogeneous. None of them claim distinction or division. The circle protects and rolls. Materials Plumb cotton rope Metal bar Mussel shells Black paper threads

My goal is to create pieces of art that tell stories. Original and exclusive pieces. My first education was in sociology. I have always had the desire to develop a universal and intergenerational language. Thus, I studied Plastic Arts applied to Sculpture at the Massana School in Barcelona. I enjoy autonomy and conceptual freedom in the creative process. So, experimentation and the meeting of disciplines are an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
