Camila Carmody

I’m an emerging artist based in Sydney with a career of just under 20 years in design and illustration. My work has been featured in Magazines such as Desktop and exhibited in various shows in both Sydney and Melbourne, including MTV Gallery and Saint Cloche. I work with both paint and ceramics and my work is known for its joyful colour palette. For the past four years, I have been exploring the ceramic medium from my small studio in Redfern. My love of illustration has quickly found its place through the method of sgraffito (Italian for “scratched”). My practice involves carving through stained slip onto hand built forms using local Australian stoneware. I draw my inspiration from walking in the wild and the natural beauty of my home and experience of surrounding areas.
