Camilla Trizio

Camilla Trizio (b. 1993) is a French and Italian painter and illustrator based in London. Characterised by a keen sense of colour and composition, her work yields rough, unexpected strokes and textures. She paints with an urgency that allows for little preparation, and often resorts to finger-painting and the use of unusual tools made from every-day objects. She has made up-cycling an integral part of her practice, often re-using old canvases and frames, as well as wooden panels from construction sites. Her work draws inspiration from the impressionists and post-impressionists she loved as a child growing up in Paris; in particular through her use of visible brushstrokes, vivid, pure colours, and geometric shapes.

In addition to painting, Camilla works as an illustrator. The softness and roundness of her picture-book-like illustrations contrast with the harsh, raw emotions expressed in her paintings. These two practices emerged separately, but in time have become integrated, eventually resulting in her FACES collection.
