Alberto Garcia Uria

Born in Cuba and grew up in Miami, San Juan PR and St Croix USVI. Previously from San Francisco, I now live in Cathedral City CA. I paint full time in my studio, located at the Perez Art District 68845 Perez Rd, H15 in Cathedral City, CA 92234. When I face a blank canvas I become one with the canvas and begin a relationship with color and texture. Oftentimes the canvas fights back midway and goes through uncertain phases but I remain present with it and ultimately get to a point where I am happy with it. My inspiration comes from my environment, my experiences in travel and the countless other creative people I encounter daily. I generally switch between working with acrylic and oil mixed with cold wax. I incorporate collaging at times.

I studied abstract painting with Leigh Hyams, UC Berkeley and traditional painting at the Florence Classical Academy of Art in Florence Italy. I have degrees in Graphic Arts Technology and a B.S. in Organizational Leadership. I continue to study abstract painting with Jullianna Poldi and attend the Florence Classical Academy of Art for workshops annually.
