Chloe Griffith

I have always been interested in the act of painting and the physicality of paint. In
exploring paint as a medium I am interested in the apparent opposites of representation
and abstraction and seeing how far I can push the boundaries of both. In my paintings the line between abstraction and figuration is therefore blurred, so that the images I produce exhibit characteristics of both. Consequently what is happening is an exploration of recognizable subject matter which is discovered through the painting process in a series of gestural abstractions.
