My work is a about capturing the psychology and spirituality of a person in a single moment of time"”a psycho-spiritual snapshot. The overlapping, inner thought processes and feelings within an individual are ever changing and complex. To transcribe these myriad processes during any given day would fill volumes. In daily living, we have learned to protect ourselves from the outside world by concealing our true nature"”our dreams and desires, fears and pain. Over time, this internal defense system expands to buffer our true feelings and thoughts, even from ourselves"” pushing them deep into our psyche, completely hidden from awareness. In my portraits, the inner workings of a person "” their emotional landscape, mental patterns and spiritual origins"”are revealed.

The raw material and inspiration for my work comes from my lifelong interests: a deep fascination with quantum physics"”the invisible mechanics upon which our entire universe is constructed; spirituality"”which I see as the sibling of science that addresses our questions of existence, relationships and motivation in life; and psychology"”which attempts to explain, predict and resolve our emotional and mental processes.
