Beverley Cornwell is a photographic artist and conceptual videographer based in the South of England. She graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Photographic Art from the University of Wales, Newport in 2012 and gained her Licentiateship distinction (LRPS) from the Royal Photographic Society in 2010.
Beverley is an observational photographer with an interest in people, animals, and the architecture that surrounds and separates them. Her latest work, 'Volitant', combines large format photography with video installations and focuses on eerily lifelike animal representations installed in habitats both purposefully and accidentally created to produce artificial animal movement.
Cornwell's previous work studied human movement through public spaces as she searched for patterns in behaviour and captured momentary interactions between strangers. Her photographic and video series 'Empty Enclosure' explored the spatial barriers in modern zoos with particular emphasis on not just why but how humans look at animals. The accompanying video piece used observed interactions between humans and animals as a reflector for wider societal behaviours.
