My name is Sofia and I've been drawing my mental health experiences since I was 16—before being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 18 in 2012. Art has been my survival tool, helping me process the intensity of living with this condition. My project, Phases, explores the emotional episodes and symptoms of bipolar disorder—mania, depression, psychosis, and everything in between. My work is deeply personal, but it also speaks to a shared reality that many people with bipolar disorder face. Through this work, I aim to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and help people with bipolar disorder feel seen and less alone. Whether you live with bipolar disorder, love someone who does, or simply want to understand mental health on a deeper level, I hope my art opens a space for empathy, connection, and conversation.
