Biography – CRYSTAL ART WRIGHT – J. Paul Wright

We live in a society where it seems that every second needs to be filled. This is often on activities that leave us feeling ‘Tired in Body, Mind and Spirit’. My art is produced to allow the viewer to stop, to look, to touch the pieces, to gain strength from them, to feed their spirit within, and just like the crystals in each piece of art, allow them to glow, just as the pieces of art do when the sunlight shines on them.

I was born and bred in Blackpool, Lancashire in the UK. For the first 40 years of life I did not believe, I could ever be an ‘artist’. My journey into art started later in life, just before my 40th birthday. At that time my family were going through a tumultuous time and I needed a way to calm my tired mind, spirit and body. Using a fond memory from my childhood, that of visiting the Natural History Museum in London in which I had bought a small pot of crystals, I began to experiment with semi-precious stones and crystals to form a piece that later became known as the ‘Crystal Tree’:
