Carolyn Dawson

Canadian painter, of Dutch mother and Canadian father, born in 1967. Carolyn Dawson is an untiring painter of great facility, known best for her talent in the treatment of textures and flow art. She is internally driven to capture her perceptions of the world in original abstract art, quoted as "meaningful yet curious simultaneously".

Carolyn Dawson has captured the attention of new and seasoned collectors worldwide. Her humble yet confident nature adds to her creative process that she describes as, "...emotional. One minute my tears are dropping onto the canvas, and the next, I'm throwing a tube of paint across the studio. I allow myself this type of vulnerability while I am painting," and it shows in the constant movement of colours within each work.

Carolyn Dawson studied under two gifted painters before venturing out on her own. She also draws from her education in mental health and addiction, and her experiences having two fiction books published. "My life experiences and education combined is what creates the personality in each piece."

Carolyn Dawson won her first art contest in grade six, having created an animated garbage bag to respresent the environment's disadvantage of littering. At only ten years old, she knew deep within that she had a natural ability to create.

Carolyn Dawson has recently been approached by curators in Toronto, Ontario and NYC, for exhibitions. She is currently in the process of completing a series and intends to exhibit in 2016.
