About the Artist

Sofia Fresia

Italy

Hello, my name is Sofia Fresia and I am an emerging oil painter based in northern Italy.

My artistic practice stems from the desire to observe and critically re-elaborate the contemporary world, above all the new difficulties and responsibilities that involves being part of a rapidly and constantly changing society, characterized by precarious geopolitical balances and constantly threatened by new climate upheavals.
In my most recent works in which I combine visual references relating to my experience as a swimmer and hiker, I am interested in issues that concern individuals - like increasingly performative social and working standards - and the whole community such as climate change. The constant references to swimming are not limited to autobiography, but also reference the concept of social liquidity introduced by Z. Bauman and the key role of water for life on Earth.
In my shop you will find also some landscape paintings and studies of old masters that I realized during my art studies.

Enjoy!
