Tak Jion is a South Korean ceramic artist whose work is rooted in the philosophy of “Hee-Haeng” — coexistence, companionship, and a movement toward hope. To visualize this, she developed “Moorisae,” stylized bird forms that she has refined over years of exploration. Each bird is composed of 5 to 20 hand-carved lines, capturing the essence of flight and simplicity. When gathered as a flock, these birds create unified rhythms and emotional resonance, embodying the collective spirit of Hee-Haeng.

Her inlaid ceramic slabs are entirely hand-carved and framed, using the traditional Korean sanggam technique — carving patterns into clay, filling them with colored slip, and refining the surface after drying. These works are not mere decorations, but conceptual spaces: records of movement, traces of emotion, and a quiet pursuit of connection. Through the Moorisae, Tak Jion builds a visual metaphor for moving together — in life, in hope, and in harmony.
