Steven Antalics

Growing up in the early 80's near Detroit in the USA, I first began photographing the suburban decay around me with a Kodak 110mm camera. As my images and style developed, I've never lost touch with that core curiosity for urban ruins, and I continually seek out the discarded, the overlooked, and the under-explored.

I've studied under Geneva-based Oliver O'Hanlon and British photographer Paul Sanders. I was for several years a member of the nearly 100-strong International Photography Club of The Hague, where I won their Photographer of the Year award in 2012-13.

In 2018, I was selected as one of twenty photographers to participate in the CERN Photowalk.

I count among my inspirations the poppy, colorful focus of Martin Parr, the sparse and sleek meditations of Vincent Munrier, and the gritty, journalistic approach of Richard Koci Hernandez.

When not engrossed in photography, I like to play ice hockey, tennis, and ski in the mountains near my home.

In addition to my full-time job as a business analyst and shipping expert for commodity traders, I have also worked as a journalist for The Michigan Daily and The Holland Times.
