Vineta Cook

Vineta Cook is a contemporary abstract photographer, known for creating atmospheric, emotionally resonant works that explore light, depth, and the unseen. Her practice moves fluidly between photography and painting, forming a distinctive visual language that balances ethereal softness with cinematic intensity.

Born in northern Lithuania, in the hometown of Jonas Mekas—widely regarded as the godfather of American avant-garde cinema—Vineta’s early exposure to artistic experimentation shaped a lifelong pursuit of visual expression. She received a silver medallion in a European Union art competition at the age of fifteen and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Vilnius Pedagogical University before relocating to the United States in 2005.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and included in a museum exhibition in the United States, with paintings held in a private museum collection in Greece. Her piece Tears of the Sun was selected to accompany a featured poem by Michael Donaghy in The Times Literary Supplement, reflecting the poetic and contemplative dimension of her work.
