My name is Jamie Barrett, and I am an interactive light sculpture artist. Futuretro [pronounced future-retro] is my artist pseudonym, it symbolises an equilibrium between the future and the past, flowing harmoniously in the present moment.
Designed to aid relaxation, my sound responsive light sculptures enrich their environment and refresh the mind.
The forms of the pieces are based on sacred geometry, tessellation and fractal patterns found in nature that have been proven to have a calming effect. My interactive sculptures make beautiful focal points that induce tranquillity to enhance your surroundings and awaken your senses.
I use the highest quality, sustainable materials (solid wood and eco-resin) to handcraft my unique, geometric sculptures and each piece incorporates interactive coloured lighting.
I created the internal electronics so my light sculptures can display a visual representation of the music they sense (via integrated precision microphones).
The concealed LEDs, that project light across the sculptures, change colour and brightness in relation to the pitch and volume of the sound that is sensed, to provide a hypnotic, audio-visual immersive experience.
