Guardian Moon is a striking mixed media artwork that embodies the enigmatic pull of cosmic forces. For over two decades, Florian Roeper has been designing and building bespoke furniture for the luxury market, creating pieces for Louis Vuitton, Dior, Four Seasons Hotels and some of the world's most prestigious designers and residences. His craft-based expertise has shaped his approach to art not as a flat surface, but as a sculptural, immersive presence. Roeper’s mixed media artworks incorporate luxurious texture and materials— precious metal leaf, resin, wood, and clay paint —layered into minimalist compositions that evoke abstract planetary and geological landscapes. Roeper’s cosmopolitan style and sensibility can be traced back to his upbringing in a multicultural family, living in Germany, Italy and California. From his obsession with gilded icons in Italian Renaissance painting, to the Japanese art and furniture in his childhood home, and to the stunningly crafted Balloon Dogs of Jeff Koons, Roeper’s sources of inspiration are global and broad At its core, Roeper's work is about creating space— both physically and emotionally. In a world saturated with noise and distraction, he seeks to encourage Zen-like moments of quiet contemplation. His pieces invite the viewer to slow down, to get lost in the subtlety of form, the richness of texture, and the stillness within the layers.
