This work belongs to the Bitta series, where Carlo Moschella reinterprets the old port elements – the iron bollards once used to moor ships – and transforms them into contemporary totems. Carlo Moschella is an Italian sculptor with over 30 years of artistic practice, based in Innsbruck. His latest works can also be found on social platforms under the name moschella_carlo_. His atelier, a few steps from Ambras Castle, is itself a total artwork — a 1500s building he personally restored, where walls, doors, and details have become part of his creative universe. Each of my works is born without a predetermined design. I do not plan how it should appear or which colors to use: I let the material itself guide me. Every time, I become the first spectator, surprised by the strength and breath of matter, and by the lightness of forms that change expression with light and angle, as if they were alive and in metamorphosis. My atelier embodies this vision: it is both workshop and permanent exhibition, an immersive place where the boundaries between art and life dissolve.
