José Contreras

Jose Contreras (1945 -)

Abstract painter. He began with painting in the Art Academy at Uruapan, Michoacan when I was 15 year old.
At age 21, I became a drawer for the Construction Department at the Housing National Institute.
In 2000 my formal education and training begun with the masters Jorge Alzaga Sanchez, then with Gonzalo Torrico Prado and finally with Jose Luis Bustamante
In my work I used the characteristics techniques of these three dear friends and teachers, applying my own pictorial proposal.
In order to develop my work my materials are: acrylic, pastel and fundamentally oil, which is my favorite; using as base: canvas, macocel, handmade paper and special paper for pastel.
According to my approach with the organized Trading Systems in Mexico, become easy the promotion and selling of my work. My artpieces are in exhibition all the time in the galleries of these companies; and participating constantly in the art sales collectives.
