I am a practising fine artist. My work is an explorarion of human connection and the world of our inner selves. The figures in my work are shown either in introspection, or in dialogue and intimate contact with another in detailed, abstract landscapes. They communicate expressively, sometimes melancholically and sometimes joyfully, in a varierty of shapes and colours.
I work mainly in acrylic on canvas, painting with vibrant tones and combining realism with abstract motifs. My work takes inspirations from a range of influences, from the abstract paintings of Paul Klee, the rich colours of Japanese (ukiyo-e) wood-block prints to the playful‘cut-out’ shapes of Paul Matisse.
With an extensive history of living with chronic pain, the instability this brings, and my appreciation for feeling, the beauty of being and connecting with others and the worldaround us- I seek to show my personal experiences in an imaginative, honest and cathartic way.
