I’m an artist/architect who, upon thinking about the blessings of what has been a full, productive life, is proud to say that he’s remained a child much of his time. I’m a representational artist but not one out to replicate subject matter in ways true to life. I’m more the dissembler, and enjoy combining incongruent elements in whimsical ways, sometimes humorously to reflect the pleasure that comes with discovering new things. I avoid planning ahead in favor of letting the process lead the way. While listening to the music, I’m never happier than when painting away, adding bits of wood, cloth, string, or anything else that’s handy to finally define something that’s the sum of its parts. I’m a narrative artist who makes stuff to tell stories. I’ve tried to be honest by developing my own visual language in hopes of encouraging onlookers to consider other realities. While I’ve enjoyed the recognition that has come my way, I’ve treasured the privilege of living an artful life.
