Marguerite Horner is a London based artist and a winner of the British Women Artists Award 2018 and the NOA17 MSAmlin prize
On graduating with an M.A. in Fine Art in 2004 she was awarded the "˜Kidd Rapinet prize' for outstanding degree work, presented by Sir Peter Blake.
In 2006 Marguerites work was short-listed for the first Celeste Painting Prize.
She has since been exhibiting widely in Art Fairs and Group Shows, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2005-2008-2010- 2011-2012-2013) the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition (2005- 2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015) ) Art in Action (2009) The Threadneedle Prize (2010-2013) The Lynn Painters Stainer Exhibition (2010-2012) Artsway Open (2010) National Open Competition Exhibition (2011-2012)The Griffin Gallery(2015)
2011 Marguerite exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale in "˜Afternoon Tea' with WW Gallery and in July Exhibition with one other artist in "˜The MacGuffin' exhibition.
2012 Marguerite had her first London Solo Exhibition "˜The Seen and Unseen' at The PM Gallery.
Lady Marina Vaizey C.B.E. (former Art Critic for the FT and Sunday Times and Turner Prize Judge) wrote an essay on her work for the catalogue.

My practice is concerned with the non-material, a reality we can access through contemplation and painting.
Today the moving image dominates our world and whilst visually powerful in so many respects, it denies us the opportunity for stillness and reflection. The value of a painting lies in its ability to induce a contemplative state in the viewer. As Walter Benjamin says 'before it the spectator can abandon himself to his associations.'
For me, the value of contemplation lies in its ability to reconcile the heart and the mind into one. I'm inspired by Merleau-Ponty's observation that it is 'precisely because painting does not ‘copy’ things, and because it does not offer things to thought as does science but presents them immediately and bodily, in their depth and movement, that painting gives a true sense of the world and what it means to see it.'
