Xiao-Kang Zhang

I am a self-taught painting lover and Chinese traditional ink and fine brush painter.

I was born in a small city in southeastern China. Graduated from the Computer Engineering department of a university in China.

A fair amount of my spare time is dedicated to painting and music playing, mainly bamboo flute instruments.

I have loved painting since I was young. My mother is a local painter and the enlightenment of my painting. My father-in-law, a local artist in my home town, is also a mentor on my way to learn painting.

My early paintings were mainly fine brush painting and drawing in Chinese painting styles, painted on rice paper.

My main areas of painting interest are: landscape, city or street view, animal or pet.

When I saw the artists work by like JEAN-FRANÇOIS MILLET and ANDREW NEWELL WYETH. I love their masterpiece particularly in rural idyll and character modeling. My painting skills are also learned from Michael James Smith for the landscape details.

In addition to painting, I love my family and my pet. I like to travel and play bamboo flute.

in June 1995, I had a chance joined an exhibition by my father-in-law in Canadian Parliament Congress Hall.
