Over the past two decades, Abigail has developed a distinctive technique—layering sand and acrylic to create richly textured, large-scale works. At the heart of Abigail’s practice is a fascination with the subtle nuances of human interaction and body language. Her paintings feature anonymous, featureless figures, deliberately rendered to invite viewers to project their own stories and emotions onto each piece. This universality transforms every painting into an “opening line”—a prompt for curiosity, empathy, and personal reflection. Abigail describes her creative process as both meditative and transformative. For her, painting is a way to distill complex feelings and fleeting moments into visual form, capturing the quiet power of human connection without the need for explicit detail. Abigail’s sensitivity to composition and narrative is deeply informed by her background in photography. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Photography from Derby University, where she was influenced by leading figures in British contemporary photography. This foundation grounds her work in both traditional techniques and a spirit of experimental, process-driven art. By intentionally leaving her figures without features, Abigail creates a universal language that resonates across cultures and backgrounds.
