I process like an artisan, experiencing with textures and objects, trying to express through my work what I have never managed to express with the common use of language. My work looks forward to restoring bonds between my past with our present. By materialising the past, I reach to a statement which liberates energy for other people and for me.
Born in Paris, Frederique Feder is an emerging multidisciplinary artist and a very unusual one. Her training began in Paris at The Atelier Montparnasse and The Atelier Bellefeuilles. Feder also spent two years in New York at The Art Students League where she studied with the likes of Hananiah Harari, a former student of Marcel Gromaire, André Lhote and Fernand Léger. She is also directly related to the French painter Jacques Emile Blanche. Since 2009, Feder has moved on to three-dimensional work using wire, wood and fabric. In 2010, in addition to the commissioned pieces inspired by Diego Velazquez, Feder has also started developing a series of mixed media sculptures entitled: “Meninas”. In October 2011, Feder became the finalist of the showdown Saatchi Gallery competition in London where her selected piece has been exhibited. Her work is also presented in high-profile private collections in London, Paris, Brussels and New York. Alongside her career in fine art, Feder has also been a prolific actress working with film directors like Krzysztof Kieslowski, Alex de la Iglesia and Pedro Almodovar.
