ABOUT
EDUCATION

I graduated from Gray's School of Art (Robert Gordon University) in 2010 with my Master of Fine Art post-graduate degree. My masters thesis was titled: 'What is it to paint a dog: Dog Art and the Contextual position of the Dog Image'.

Since then I have gone on to paint many other subjects and am currently working on a series of 'crow' paintings. These will be shown at my next solo show where I was kindly invited to exhibit at Bonhams, Edinburgh. Open to the public on the 7th and 8th of July, 2011, from 10am to 4.30pm

My work involves the reductive treatment of images that interest and inspire me. For each subject I extract and paint shapes, patterns and colours that retain tonal honesty but explore and reflect colours, emotions and settings. I take observed, un-posed subjects and create unique oil paintings where the creative process provides a framework for the finished item so that they are given presence and contemplation.
