The works of Luis María Iglesia present a play between figurative elements that refer to history, in particular to the history and genesis of works of art, and a gestural graphic treatment, sometimes abstract, other times geometric in nature through a exhaustive material investigation.

A space of references made up of multiple layers or strata like a palimpsest. Although it never abandons its materialization or “space of representation” that activates the relationship of the artistic object with the human being, as a recipient of the action of painting, delving at the same time into the object aspect, and its functioning as an apotropaic element, as a fetish that always accompanies us. Thing or element that establishes a sensitive relationship by making the invisible visible with the soul of the viewer. Always in search of a balance between aesthetic contemplation and poetic narrative.

His work is deeply symbolic, lyrical and at the same time disturbing, it gravitates between memory and permanent exposure to new perceptual experiences.

Luis M. Iglesia graduated in the Graphic Techniques speciality from the Fine Arts Faculty UPV/ EHU - Bilbao in 1985.
