Mikel is currently teaching painting and drawing at a nearby Community College. He is an active member of Global Art Project, a multimedia collaborative collective consisting of over 45 artists from 17 countries. He is active in the Frag Exchange Project where artists from around the globe mail each other fragments of found material or discarded art works. Mikel is also half of the collaborative team known as The Visual Passion Duo, which is a collaboration between him and Gerard Amsellem. Together, The VP Duo has created 12 large scale paintings that have been created together working at the same time, usually in front of a small audience and usually with live musicians interacting with the artists. Lately, due to the coronavirus, the duo has been holding Zoom meetings on line, presenting a series called Visionaries of Art and Film. When the lock down was in place they did a series called Quarantine Conversations, the artist they discussed was Vincent van Gogh. In 2019-21, Mikel will be in a number of exhibitions throughout the world. In August 2019, CrossingBorders at Campo Santo in Brecht, Belgium; in 2020, a juried group show at Craven Art Center in North Carolina and at the same time has 3 works in CrossingBorders II in Lafayette, CA; in October 2020, he will have 3 works in Fragmentos, a GAP group exhibition in Madrid, Spain. Mikel has also been awarded a residency in 2021 at Wildacres Artist Residency Program in NC.
