This piece, titled HAWARIA, pays tribute to a seaside town in my home country, known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters. It was inspired by the stark contrast I experienced when I arrived in Canada and had my first swim not in the sea, but in a shallow freshwater lake. I observed lifeguards watc...

"Mom, when you draw… it feels like you're writing." That’s what my daughter once told me and it stayed with me. My name is HAYFAAB, born Haïfa ABDELHEDI, originally from Tunis, Tunisia, now living and creating in Montreal. Art has always been part of my life, not just as a passion, but as a way to express what words couldn’t. From a young age, drawing helped me overcome my shyness. It became my voice. I studied fashion design at LaSalle College in 2003, then graduated at the top of my class from the university of Science and Technology of Design in 2006. Those years opened doors to many creative paths, from teaching design and visual arts, to running my own interior design studio. I loved designing bold spaces and eccentric furniture pieces, always guided by what I felt from the people I was creating for. My empathy became my compass, I wasn’t just designing objects, I was translating emotions. Eventually, all those experiences led me back to painting a space where everything I’ve learned and lived could come together freely. Today, my art is driven by emotion, energy, and rhythm. I work instinctively, letting the brush guide me. There’s something raw and alive in each piece a kind of expressive chaos that reflects the world as I feel it, not just see it. I see art not only as a form of expression, but as a full experience, one that blends the visual with the emotional, the intuitive with the designed. That’s the journey I invite you to share through my work. Welcome to my world. HAYFAAB
