ARTIST STATEMENT The exhibit Transformation thru Perspective features an everchanging genre of artwork - landscapes, Africana, figurative abstract, which is a testament that the artwork is inspired by imagination, expression and feeling and is not a product of recreated reality. All of the works are products of the imagination, minimal mixing of pigments and wet on wet technique give the landscapes a sense of luminocity and complexity that is inherent in both the imagination and the world around us. The perspectives are at times extreme in order to create a surreal effect. ARTIST BIO Franz Fox was born on the island of Cuba under the Batista Regime. After the Castro government came into power, several uprisings resulted in immediate family members being jailed for defiance of the communist government. Soon thereafter, Fox's family migrated to the U.S. just before the Cuban missile crisis. During his travels to England, France, Italy, Spain, and Holland, Franz perfected his art through his studies of landscape and architecture. His formal education in architecture gives him a unique mastery of perspective and spaciality. REPRESENTATIONAL HISTORY: Franz has had representation at the Agora Gallery in Chelsea and Soho in New York City and is currently being represented by the 3rd Street Gallery in Philadelphia and the Six Summit Gallery in Connecticut and N.Y.C.He has also been represented by the 2nd Floor Gallery in Mechanicsburg, PA and the Harrisburg Art Association Gallery in Harrisburg, PA. He has previously run his own galleries; Gallery on Pomfret, in Carlisle, and Gallery 114 in Mechanicsburg, prior to opening the studio in Lancaster. He has been invited and participated in several art benefit auctions for charity by WITF TV.
