Interview questions: Place of birth? St. Louis, Missouri Where did you grow up/live? St. Louis What schools did you go to? St. Louis University, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Maryland Institute College of Art, School of Visual Art When did you first get interested in art? First started drawing in elementary school. Got serious in high school at trade school enrolled in commercial art. What type of art do you do? Graphic art, Portrait and Figurative painting, Wall Scrolls which are my painted comics on large canvas rolls. How long have you been doing the art you do? I started showing work professionally in the early 90’s. About 30 plus years. What is your favorite medium for your art? Oil Painting. I also teach Watercolor, Acrylic, Pastels, Drawing and Sculpture. Why do you do the art that you do? I always knew I would be making art. That is who I am, an artist. What artist(s) influenced you? I was influenced by my art instructors at school. I am influenced by the artists in my "Post No Bills" series. I also admired comic artists like Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Simon Bisley, Giraud/Moebius, and Frank Frazetta. Do you sell your art or is it just a creative outlet for you? Now I am selling more of my art and doing many commissioned portraits. Besides East End Arts , are there any other artist’s groups that you belong to? South Bay Art Association, Art League of Long Island and Guild Hall What is (are) your favorite artwork(s) that you have done? “The Wall”, “Jam Master J”, "Post No Bills" What are your hobbies/ things you like to do? Play sports and video games. Besides your art, do you work or are you retired? I have been teaching art for 20 plus years.
