This was painted one day at a local fish hatchery. There is a small lake that is dammed up behind the hatchery and this fellow was opening the sluice to let some water from the lake out. I used oil paints on a sturdy, tightly woven linen panel of high quality.

My name is Tom Daniels. I am a self-taught Plein Air painter of landscapes, meaning they are done out of doors in the open air. Scenes are generally painted Alla Prima, that is in one sitting. Sometimes, but not always, a little touch up takes place back in the studio. I have painted all my life, but more so now that I am retired. I live in Vancouver, Washington and am regularly to be found painting in the local area. Sometimes I paint still life's and figures and an occasional portrait.
