People in my life inspired this work. The way in which people are individualistic and adaptable to their environment, I find fascinating. Part of a larger series of different species of giant animals adapting to different rooms, I use this as a metaphor for the different characters I meet in my everyday life. Using a different room of a house in each painting, I am slowly building my dream home with a family of animals! Humanity, along with its encounter with the beauty of nature provided the imagery for this work. I hope viewers will feel delighted in how this particular character has successfully adapted to its particular environment of the indoor swimming pool. The beaver builds dams in lakes and rivers and this one can't help himself but build something similar out of pool toys and furniture! Beavers are busy and nocturnal for the most part. I paint what moves me, resiliency of the living spirit. These paintings are about how we just can't help but be our best when we our best selves. Each painting comes with painted sides and requires no frame. Complete with hangy wire also it is ready for your enjoyment!

Artist Statement: Art is an exploration of my everyday experience as a human being. I enjoy developing connections with others, connections of a particular kind. I explore the strange, the unusual and the fantastical. My art has also been described as a splash of wit, a sprinkle of social commentary, a dash of humour and a bucket load of fun. Artist Biography: Lisa Ng was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. As a child she immediately held an interest in being a poet of sorts. She attended the Dundas Valley School of Art and graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) 2007, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Lisa considers herself a self-taught artist. She gets inspired by people. Lisa Ng has won numerous awards including those from the Scarborough Arts Council and the Artist's Network of Riverdale and has received positive reviews from both the Globe and Mail and NOW Magazine. Lisa Ng is also the Rogue Leader of The Spooky Astronauts Drawing Club and a friend of Pablo Jueves. Lisa Ng makes art everyday.
