I am interested in juxtaposing styles or images in the same painting. My influences are many so combining and utilizing them sometimes creates the unexpected. Lately, I have been using many photos of myself (past and current) as source material for paintings. Up until the very end, the image remains fluid, so the sense of discovery is always imminent, and satisfying. Simply put, I paint because I love the creative process - the process that I am trying to comprehend and know. With every new piece, I get closer to understanding that the finished painting is not so important anymore, as is the process and the life which it represents.
