I usually capture unseen aspects of human existence in my works, such as Love, Death, or the Soul. In other words, what is impossible to perceive through the visual sense, I create through painting and present it to the viewer, as well as to myself. I consider painting a divine grace granted to humanity—through it, the invisible becomes visible, the past can be brought into the present and the future, and oblivion turns into eternal memory, transcending time and conquering death. I feel that the world of my century is gripped by visual and spiritual sickness. Work, production, reproduction, eating, sleeping, living, dying—all of these occur at a fast pace. Images that are increasingly saturated, violent, sexualized, shocking, and contrasting constantly bombard the individuals of the 21st century, whether they desire it or not. I believe that prolonged and uncontrolled exposure to such imagery can lead to a desensitization of visual perception, as well as of the human spirit. Thus, a person who possesses the ability to distinguish between what is crass and what is profound could become a rare find. I have chosen to oppose this malady by constructing my own body of work, a sanctuary where I and the people of my century, as well as those of future centuries, can rest their eyes, minds, and souls. As an artist, I have both the calling and the duty to create, and through my creations, to inspire, educate, protect, heal, and love people.
