Turkish Coffee Painting

Tamkeen is an artist based in Toronto, Canada. She creates landscape, still life and abstract paintings using acrylic paints applied on canvas or wood panel. Her goal as an artist is to pull the viewer into the painting so they can follow the brushstrokes and feel the power of hope. She is deeply influenced by the beauty of nature and places a great deal of importance on the role of natural light and the elements it illuminates in her paintings. As light instantaneously attracts the viewer to a focal point, she carefully chooses the right lighting to convey the mood of the painting. Inspiration for Tamkeen is found in many places. As a child she found immense solace in reading storybooks with colourful imagery and illustrations. This style of aesthetics reflects in her choice of vibrant colours, technique with brushstrokes and style of artwork. She is an avid admirer of works by Michael J. Smith, Craig Penny and Oga Kazuo.
