Born in 1982 in Leipzig, Germany, to Russian parents, Irina Shark grew up in Ukraine and Siberia. She then moved to Paris and obtained a Masters in Linguistics. She lived in Hong Kong for many years and worked there as an interpreter, translator and professor of French at the Alliance Française and at local universities. She started sculpting in 2011 and trained with Grzegorz Gwiazda at the Barcelona Art Academy and with Eran Weber at the Florence Art Academy. She rubbed shoulders and learned alongside many modern sculptors, including Brian Booth Craig, who had an impact on her development as an artist. After several years working alone, she moved to Florence to work alongside other sculptors in Studio Via dei Conti. His first bronze titled "Me" was among the finalists for FACE, the prestigious Society of Portrait Sculptors competition in 2018 and was exhibited at the Pall Mall Gallery in London. She has exhibited in different countries since then and has been a finalist in many international competitions, her bronze “Tête Monumentale” was exhibited for 6 months at the MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) in Barcelona, ​​she is the winner of the Brugnon Prize in 2020 of the Taylor Foundation and the Michel Dimon Prize. She now spends her time between Paris and Normandy where she has her workshop. ​
