Beads. Colour. Beautiful objects. Those are the three things that inspire my work and I use the first two to hopefully create the third. All that you see is created with beads on a painted canvas.
My method of working is necessarily pain-staking with each bead placed on the canvas by hand and by myself (no assistants!). I'd always wanted to find a way to use beads but I was never interested in the traditional methods of using them .i.e. as jewellery or body adornment etc.
As you can imagine it's not a quick process and how long each piece takes depends on the size and design.
My wish? Simply that they are seen and admired as a beautiful objects.
They are delicate and best to handle with care as little as possible.
I have a degree in Iberian & Latin American Studies and also hold a Masters degree in Technical & Specialised Translation.
Prior to becoming an artist I worked as a freelance translator but the life of a translator was not for me and I’ve focused on being an artist since 2005.
