Painting is meditation. There is a tension between reality and the abstract and I am continuously fascinated by the beauty it creates.
When painting realism, I struggle to loosen my control and inverse, when painting abstractly, I desperately seek the familiar.
I find the complexity and process of building layers, texture and lines the most satisfying. At the end, perhaps only a suggestion of the original layer remains, but understand that even those layers that are unseen, are a part of the foundation. The painting can not exist without them.
I have been painting for more than 20 years now and still have yet to imagine that I know anything about painting. What I do know is my soul and how I feel in this world. A lot of my work is colored by it.
I am in the communications field and a graphic designer by day. Painting is a decompression and translator of my inner world. Every painting has a story that reveals a small glimp into a moment or period of my life.
I work with molding pastes, inks, acylics, charcoals, oil mediums and glazes.
