• Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Waterbury, CT, 2020–present. Rectory ceiling and basement renovations. Basement paintings include the Wedding Feast of Cana (about 3.5 m x 13 m), the Four Evangelists, the Jordan River room (all four walls), six large scenes depicting angels holding the Basilica and Waterbury landmarks, ceiling depicting the Salvation History, and other works in progress.

Contemporary classical master artist Paul Armesto is the author of some of the world’s largest oil painting
murals, most of which are in churches and private residences in the United States and Costa Rica.
Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, on December 14, 1973, Paul Armesto expressed his interest in art from an early age. He was educated in Catholic schools and made several trips to Brittany, France, developing a passion for Biblical art and seascapes, among others.
After growing up in Paris, he lived in Madrid, Spain, and San José, Costa Rica, before settling with his family in New York in 2012. He has been married since 2007 and has two daughters.
He obtained his Baccalaureate in Art from the Academy of Poitiers, France. Since modern art had little appeal to him, he opted for a more traditional method, drawn from the Renaissance, to perfect his oil painting technique, which he achieved through the teachings of a master, celebrated Nicaraguan classical painter Alberto Ycaza (1945-2002).
