Jina Heo is an artist based in Seoul, South Korea. She studied Visual Design and Illustration (M.F.A) majoring in Illustration at Hong-ik University. (Contact : ) Her works reminiscent of fairy tales such as Alice in Wonderland and William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream illustrate not only images restricted to black and white but also images in gray between black and white. Seemingly regular yet free flowing lines are left on a black scratch board using knife work, disclosing a bright hue. Showy color paper and pictures made with a marbling technique are inserted on this foundation of a seemingly keen confrontation between black and white, thereby representing the subject of binary opposition contrasted with the background. She presents a comprehensive point of view that goes beyond just “black and white” through the difference between the two colors.
